The future looks exciting for the Cypress Creek area!
You may have heard the term, “Uptown”, describing our part of Fort Lauderdale. Uptown is in the 2nd largest business hub in Broward, and the great news is that plans are progressing to redevelop the Uptown area (generally the area of Cypress Creek Road west of I-95 to the Executive Airport area). In February, the city Planning and Zoning Board approved a plan amendment for the 353-acre Uptown Urban Village. Although it needs further approval, the plans are to improve our area with 2,560 residential units, (up from 239), additional commercial and retail space, and a design that will make the Cypress Creek Road Corridor more pedestrian and bike friendly.
Envision a revitalized mixed-use community, a redesigned Tri-Rail center, shops and restaurants along Cypress Creek Road, all in an urban pedestrian-friendly environment. The community will be a great way to attract employees who wish to live close to their workplace and enjoy shopping, restaurants and entertainment within walking distance. Imagine a leisurely lunchtime stroll on a beautifully redeveloped and landscaped pedestrian pathway just around the corner from your office.
The good news seems to be all around Crown Center. Have you noticed the Cypress Creek Medical Pavilion that is being constructed on 8.5 acres just west of our campus, on Cypress Creek Road? This state of the art facility will bring 82,000 square feet of medical office space, including a new ambulatory surgery center. The medical industry has been lacking in our area, and this new facility will be up and humming by summer of this year.
A little bit closer to home, Crown Center is in the process of planning our own retail plaza, which will be breaking ground soon… right on our campus! The new 25,000 square foot retail plaza will feature restaurants, retail, and open-air gathering places for Crown Center tenants and local residents as well. Imagine a short walk to a relaxing lunch out to enhance your workday, or perhaps a cocktail after work to wind down.
Stay tuned! Uptown just keeps getting better and better, and we’re happy to be a part of, and in the middle of, this exciting area.
